The word Vedic is used for the oldest Arya period. After the Vedic period, there are other Arya periods, but they are not Vedic periods. What we call today a Hindu, Buddhist, etc. was in the ancient world called 'Arya'. (Buddhism calls itself Arya Dharma, and has 4 Noble or Arya Truths).

Noble
Not in the sense of nobility, but in the sense of civilized. Noble of heart, thought and action. I belive there's nothing questionable abou Arya menaing noble, thus your question stunned me.

I'm sorry, Amh, but I really have great pains in trying to understand what the direction of thinking and question of yours is.

I never said that there were two groups, one Vedic and one Arya. Once that you assumed that there are two groups, then you question this assumption of yourself.

I have read A.L. Basham. Nice book in a way, and not very nice when taking the invasionist view into account.
