Mongols, Turks and Islam
1206 Temujin "Chingiz Khan' unites all Mongols. (Not a Muslim)
1282: the new Shaybanid Khan Uzbek converts the Shaybanid horde to Islam and his horde becomes known as the Uzbeks. (Shayban was a Mongol and brother of Batu)
1295: Ghazan, the Ilkhan, converts to Islam. (IlKhans are descendants of Hulagu, a Mongol)
1304: Oljeitu, the Ilkhan, proclaims himself a shiite.
1327: Chagatay khan Tarmashirin converts to Islam

Mongols and India
1304: Mongols under Ali Beg invade India but are repelled by the Delhi sultanate.
1328: the Mongols invade India but are repelled by the Delhi sultanate.
Kubilai Khan was never in India, but established the Yuan Dynasty of China. he tried to invade Japan and Java, without success. He had declared Buddhism as state religion of his empire.

Note:
1365: the turkic-speaking Timur overthrows the Chaghatai khanate and conquers Persia, establishing his capital in Samarkand.
Though the Mughal Dynasty is named after the Mongols, this dynasty was actually Chaghatay-Turk: Jalaluddin Babar was descended from both the Chaghatay Mongols and the Timurid Turks. (Although Tughluq Timur is also a Chaghatay Mongol, but he hated the Mongols, and took his mother's Turkish descent)
