Haha Vinaire,

I was waiting for this question of yours.

Avatra means literally ava=away and tr=cross, swim. If you know that Para=beyond, then ava-tara means that you cross away (=swim over) from the Para (into Apa-ra = Saguna).

Avataras are embodied, so must also be Jiivatman. But they can 'move freely' their consciousness from Nirguna to Saguna and back. They are aware and have realized their Brahman-tva (of course there are degrees) and that's why they can mean so much more for humanity. [They can also become confused sometimes, depending upon the influence of the Jiiva on their Atman]

Paramatman is indeed the supreme state an Atman may attain. When staying in the Oneness that Atman is Paramatman, but plunging again in Saguna that Atman is Avatara. But there's one condition: That Avataratman must re-realize and be aware again of its Brahma-tva, its Paramatma-tva.
So there's actually everytime One Paramatman, because no individuality exists in Nirguna/ParaBrahman, but in the Saguna there are many Avataras. These Avataras are though having/being individuality actually also being in-dividuality=un-dividability.

Actually we all are technically also Avatara the moment we realize our Nirguna ans Saguna Brahma-tva.
