The problem, Willie, is that every country and their citizens should do that: be flexible, that is looking at other people and their customs and beliefs, but they don't obviously.
Are the resident religions given the same respect, not to mention their adherers? Why are people in most politically Islamized countries given a secondary or tertiary status, but when certain Muslims enter non-Muslim countries, tey want first class treatment and demand that.

I think that first of all the politically Islamized countries should do something about flexibility, openness and acceptance of others differing from them in their own countries. If they can do that, the next step towards their neghbours would improve a lot.

Another point is to separate religion from politics. Countries that have traditionally a Christian flavour have managed this problem. The countries with a Muslim flavour have way to go. Though their problems are mainly economically, the religious trump is served over and over again by their top leaders.

Now India has a different problem. First, It is on the toplist of militant religious groups to be targeted and/or to be destroyed.
Second, then there's the religious sermon of milder adherers to Islamize (or Christianize in other cases) the country. No one can deny that. This tendency has been observed in western countries too, which lead to a growing support for their political right wings. Something horrible, but happening.
Third, India faces besides this organized infiltration on many levels further the dangers of neighbours with nuclear means.
While this internal and external disrespect is a fact, India has its own disrespecting aggressive groups from all camps. It's unfortunate that this is happening. But fortunately these are always small in number.
India has always had the capacity to be responsible, with a huge majority being respectful. So I believe India will overcome these groups and this crisis.
The external trouble will take more time, because there are more parties involved with very different agendas.
