The ManuSmrti is gravely distorted. The manuscripts are clearly worked upon, having conflicting messages, as for instance on the eating of meat. Manu clearly prohibits that, but within the same series of verses are interpolated verses showing that one has to eat beef and horsemeat, etc. British Society missionaries did what was normal in the 19th century in Europa: they distorted/mutilated manuscripts and created new verses. They had that power and the opportunity, because they simply possessed the manuscripts!
