The terms Vaishnava and Shaiva might have started with groups either choosing to contemplate more on the Shaiva or Vaishnava aspect of the Trinity.

The indologists of the Society started to isolate groups: Jaina, Bauddha, Vaishnava, Shakta, Sikkha and other Bhakti groups, etc. All this was within their divide-and-rule policy.

Yesterday I met a teacher of mine. He told me that it was a normal procedure in the nineteenth century (Romance period) to deliberately changing original manuscripts, destroy or mutilate, whether European or foreign.
That is what happened to a lot of Hindu manuscripts, especially with the chronicles and epics, like Puranas, Mahabharata and Ramayana, dealing with the ancient Indian history. These data were a thread to the Biblical date for the start of the universe (calculated at 4004 BC). according to the Euro-American interpretation.
