Every older school of thought was an adaptation to the newer time and looked very modern at that time. But only later generations could verify that intrinsically nothing new was added, basically. Only the presentation was new. And that's what's natural and logical. Human beings have a limited set of emotions with limited sets of behavorial tendencies. Though within these sets there are variations, the sets cover overall the same emotional set.

Thus, the psychology of human beings has limits, which counts for the behavious too. This makes the basic set of psychological and social rules also very limited, with countless variations in within the sets.
It's no wonder that the saints and their books will endlessly repeat what has been said already, perhaps sometimes without the followers realizing this. Mostly, real saints do realize this, and thus do confess and mention this.
Unfortunately the followers aren't made of that calibre or thinking that widely to realize this, and either long for new material or plunge into the older material uncritically under guidance of subversive elements......
