Exactly, Vinaire. Willie forgets that the value of experiencing is not in the texts themselves, whether modern or old, but in taking any essence of any time into practical selfrealization. Thinking, feeling and taking action in a balanced, critical way are the three indivisible means of selfrealization. Seemingly many modern texts don't fulfill the needs of many. But we have to be critical too in what sense it's not fulfilling. If one takes blindly any holy texts without reading critically and applying critically the essence of portions, then it's actually not helpful in developing into a responsible, independant social being.
