Hmm, discussing philosophical concepts should be done with dignity and respect...and FACTS which are founded. But not with emotions and certainly not with yelling.

There are many faces within each religion. Every religion starts with idealism with the founder, but becomes clowded with the following generations. When that idealism becomes canonized it is a product of its time and setting.
Within every religion you have orthodox and heterodox movements, exoterical and esoterical faces, etc.
The three main thoughts are non-dualistic, dualistic and triadic, with many variations.

This is only the philosophical part. It becomes more complex when the ritual part become general social and moral rules, applied according to the society involved.
When finally the charismatic individual feelings and/or thoughts are 'correcting' the social, moral and philosophical tradition, then it can go either way: If the individual has a big heart and an open mind, then that energy will be applied positively by him, but if he's narrowminded but thinking big, then that energy can be very negative, when getting followers.

Most big events have to do with the spell of charismatic individuals and their interpretations and corrections of traditions.
A second spell is from the social behaviour of people. It's a game behaviour, which means that people follow others (which you see also with big game animals): look at fashion, music, technological trends, etc.
A third spell is that negativeness is a louder and more focussed force then positiveness which is more diffusing. That's why negativeness is so easily expressed. (also because the unfinished inner Karmic cycles are still working bursting from the unconsciousness to the partly consciousness)

So, this is a very basic scheme to look at movements without involving emotions. When tackling the emotions they should be recognized and given a proper place outside the discussion. (With emotions I mean the uncontrolled emotions)
