Dear, Willie, the first sentence of yours doesn't displays a thorough understanding of what Buddhism and Hinduism are. I think that your understanding is not from first hand founded research, besides not being specific, but talking suggestively or assuming facts.

About the Nepali Buddhism, of course that's different from the one practised anywhere else: any new movement will take from older or other traditions. Nepali tradition is different from Thai tradition. Many local myths and custums become Bauddhized, i.e. get a Buddhistic flavour when similar traditions are met with. Also the reverse is happening.
The southeastern Buddhism is more Hinayna: the central point of Hinayana is that a few=hina attain Buddhahood, they are called Arhat. This sounds reasonable, because it takes a lot of work to attain selfrealization. (exclusive Buddhism)
The Mahyna system is around mah=greater groups led towards Buddhahood by the Bodhisattvas or realized ones. (inclusive Buddhism).
But nowhere is there a strict segregation between the two ststems, except maybe for the Zen school, which is highly exclusive and sophisticated.
